Hydration

Why do I need fluid?
60 % of the human body consists of water, and most of the chemical reactions in the body require water. Water is needed because it carries nutrients into the cells and removes waste products. Water also serves to regulate body temperature and acts as a lubricant for joints, organs and tissues. On top of that, most of the chemical reactions in the human body take place in water*
Am I drinking enough?
Not taking in enough fluid can lead to negative effects such as tiredness, dry skin, muscle cramps and constipation. That is why it is so important to take in the recommended amount of about 2 litres of fluid a day. Ideally this is water, but drinks such as fruit juices and herbal teas also count towards your daily fluid intake. It is also good to know that foods with a high water content help to supply you with fluid too. Make sure you drink more when you exercise or when it is hot, to replace the fluid you lose through sweating*.

Water with added value
You do your body a favour during intense exercise if you quench your thirst with a specially developed sports drink – during and after exercise.
Adding minerals
When you sweat, you lose important minerals such as sodium, chloride and potassium. They are often called electrolytes and are of central importance for the body. Sports drinks can lead you to take in more fluid and provide magnesium, which contributes to balanced electrolyte levels during exercise. Try Herbalife 24 Hydrate, a calorie-free electrolyte drink, or Herbalife 24 LiftOff Max, which contains caffeine and vitamins B6, B12 and C, which help to reduce tiredness and fatigue.
